Hosts & History
Five centuries of hospitality.One family.
Our story reaches back almost half a millennium. First mentioned in 1540 as a tannery and known since 1894 as the 'Thalerwirt' with a licence to serve drinks, the Sterzingerhof today is far more than a hotel. Standing right at the start of the pedestrian zone, it was even then the gateway to the medieval Fugger town's historic centre. Since the 1970s the house has been in our family's hands: in 1973 Helmuth Siller took over the inn initially as a tenant, and from 1983 as its owner. Today we run it in the second and third generation – with the same conviction that led us to promise Ernst Mader we would preserve his hand-carved Zirmstube forever. Once met with smiles, it is now the heart of our house. The charming bay window from 1926 still shapes the facade today. Today, three family members carry this story forward: Armin Siller as head chef, Doris Siller as a certified sommelière and restaurant manager, and Aaron Siller across the inn, kitchen and service. We run the Sterzingerhof as a family: rooted in tradition, but always looking ahead.
